Which seems to be what's happening here, since that would horrify even a character as courageous as Rosita. They hear "where they go?" and think the dead have learned to speak. It happens with two characters who don't exist on the show (yet?), Marco and Ken. He remembers discovering the clandestine marijuana field just to the north, a treasure trove of sticky, fragrant heaven hidden within the larger acreage of. In the comics, this iconic scene is the cover of issue #130 and is the introduction to the Whisperers. HOLY S-! The Whisperers are in the trailer, and they aren't whispering, they're communicating through walker growls! They're Growlers, a term for the dead that was actually used once in Season 6 by a small group of Saviors who captured Carol ( Melissa McBride) and Maggie ( Lauren Cohan). I admit I didn't hear it until like the fifth time I watched it. So they listened over and over again until they heard it. But comics readers knew that there should be a line of dialogue in that scene that would explain why they're so scared. I'm not a comics reader, so when I first saw it, I assumed it was a hint that the Whisperers were among the horde. They are terrified in a way of these tough characters almost never are, even in the face of a big horde. There's a scene at the end of the trailer where Rosita ( Christian Serratos) and an unidentifiable male character are hiding in mud from a horde of walkers passing by. But sharp-eared fans on Reddit with comics knowledge noticed something. The trailer focuses on Rick Grimes (Lincoln) trying to keep the communities together among mounting tension within the group and at first glance barely hints at the Whisperers at all. As Rick was trying to remind Morgan who he was Morgan clearly says 'People wearing dead people faces' Roughly 22:00 min mark. However, Im just rewatching Season 3 Episode 12 'Clear' and the point where Rick had Morgan in the room as Morgan was waking up. Something, however, encouraged him to take off in search of other people. I havent seen anyninfomation regarding ot tbh. Their arrival was biggest news to come out of the panel (we already knew Andy was leaving), but other than the casting announcement it seemed like the Whisperers were being downplayed a little bit. Virgil was last seen feeding Michonne hallucinogens and resigning himself to die alone on his island. Their name comes from how they communicate. In most cases only the scripts themselves are available. The Whisperers are adversaries from the comics who skin walkers and wear the dead epidermis as their own, and live among the dead undetected. Episode transcripts Season 1 Pilot, Part 1 transcript Pilot, Part 2 transcript Tabula Rasa. It'll be interesting to see how this development plays out this season. The Walking Dead released its Season 9 trailer during its panel at San Diego Comic-Con, a big day where Andrew Lincoln confirmed that he's leaving the show and it was revealed that the Whisperers are coming and Samantha Morton will play their leader Alpha. The discovery of the mask reminds us of what the Whisperers have done and that some of them are still out there. This has pushed Maggie to embark on a trip to Meridian in search of supplies, thus putting her on a collision course with the Reapers. Alpha's walker horde that Beta unleashed upon Alexandria prior to his death last season has left the place on its last legs, with its inhabitants starving. Now, this could just be a mask - the Season 11 trailer teased Maggie (Lauren Cohan) donning one, and this could explain where she got it - but that seems unlikely for a show like "The Walking Dead." After all, the effects of the Whisperer War continue to be seen in Season 11. We don't see who finds it, but Carol (Melissa McBride), Aaron (Ross Marquand), Jerry (Cooper Andrews), and former Whisperer Lydia (Cassady McClincy) have all returned to Hilltop in search of tools, and it seems the mask is discovered while they're there. At the end of the fast-moving trailer for the episode, a Whisperer mask is discovered.
